For the daydreamers, the overthinkers and those whose minds have a habit of wandering.
Madame Butterfly is a surreal exploration of getting lost in your own thoughts, where ideas take flight and imagination is free to roam. A vintage portrait becomes a dreamlike figure, surrounded by butterflies and fragments of French text, with her eyes obscured beneath layers of words and imagery.
The piece plays with the idea of what happens when the inner world becomes more vivid than the one around us — that wonderfully familiar feeling of disappearing into your own head, following a thought wherever it happens to lead.
Created from carefully sourced vintage imagery and French text, the original handmade collage brings together nostalgia, surrealism and a little bit of mystery. Madame Butterfly is a celebration of imagination, daydreaming and the beautiful chaos of an overactive mind.
