Why care about collage?
Collage has always been about reinvention. It first emerged in the early 1900s, when artists like Picasso and Braque began combining scraps of newspaper, wallpaper and everyday materials with paint, breaking the rules of traditional art and creating something completely new. Since then, collage has become a way of exploring ideas, emotions and memories through fragments of the real world.
I love collage because it’s a conversation between past and present. The pieces I make are built entirely from vintage, recycled and found materials: old magazines, postcards, maps, books and scraps collected over time that already have a life of their own. By reworking these elements, I get to tell new stories from things that might otherwise be forgotten. I also get to rewrite stories that for so long have been told a certain way, but that deserve retelling, reframing.
Collage is also an art form that naturally lends itself to sustainability. Nothing is wasted; everything can be reimagined. In a world full of mass production, I find something deeply grounding and hopeful about creating by hand — using what already exists to make something meaningful, lasting and kind to the earth.
Sustainable materials
Every collage is made using vintage and recycled materials: old magazines, books, scraps and found paper. This gives new life to what might otherwise be thrown away.
Original works of art
Each piece is hand-cut and one-of-a-kind, created through an analogue process that celebrates imperfection, texture and storytelling.
